March 2018

Whittal Seeds have brought two new varieties to their mixtures, Nifty Int Dip from DLF and Seagoe Int Tet from Barenburg. These are new NIAB listed varieties this year which will compliment the Aber varieties to improve yield and give better D Value.

In the recent snow, customers who have planted fodder beet, forage rape and stubble turnips have benefited from the convenience of supplement feeding.

The hay and straw stocks are very low, we will have bales to sell at harvest time although many barns are empty now.

On the Farm..

Ballinboy and Fintona are the latest, highest yielding NIAB varieties here on the farm. They have just had their first nitrogen application and flat rolling will commence in the next day or so to push in stones and flatten mole bumps, improving tillering.

Seed Plant..

We are currently cleaning Bargold amenity grass seed from Garnstone Farms on behalf of Barenbrug. This variety goes into a top amenity grass seed mixture.

We clean seed for a number of companies, please contact the office is this is a service you are interested in.
